A missing wheelchair valued at $12,000, for 6-year-old Tyce Sauter of Becker, was found Sunday in Sauk Centre. The blue and black Zippie custom-made pediatric wheelchair was reported missing on Jan. 15 by the boy’s father, Thomas Bartkowicz, who lives north of Sauk Centre.
According to Bartkowicz, he thought the chair had been lost or stolen from the back of his pickup somewhere between Sauk Centre and Albany.
Al Gettel of Precision Ag Parts and Equipment on the north end of Sauk Centre hadn’t heard anything about the missing wheelchair when he noticed it in the ditch on his property over a week ago.
“It was just laying in the road ditch,” said Gettel. “I thought maybe someone threw it away – it looked beat up. The vinyl was all banged up.”

Blowing snow, icy roads create hazardous driving conditions in Central Minnesota counties

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – (11:43 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises no unnecessary travel in the following Central Minnesota counties due to blowing snow, icy roads and limited visibility:

·       Stearns County

·       Benton County

·       Sherburne County

·       Mille Lacs County

·       Morrison County

While roads remain open, motorists should delay travel if possible, and expect to encounter lane and road closures where crashes occur.

As of 11:50 a.m., eastbound Interstate 94 at Highway 25 in Monticello is currently closed due to multiple crashes. Lanes will pen as soon as crashes can be cleared.
