Meeting & Public Accuracy Test 

Notice is hereby given to qualified voters of Avon Township, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, that the Annual Township Election will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.  Polls will be open from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Avon Township Hall, 16881 Queens Road, Avon, MN.  To be elected are one township supervisor for a three-year term and one treasurer for a two-year term.  Following the election on March 14th, the Board of Canvass will be held at 8:15 PM, and the Annual Town Meeting will be held at 8:30 PM. to conduct all necessary business prescribed by law.  In case of inclement weather, the Annual Meeting, Board of Canvass, and Election will be postponed one week, until the third Tuesday in March.  Please listen to KASM radio (1150 AM) for changes.  The Clerk’s Office in Avon Township Hall (16881 Queens Road, Avon) will be open on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 10 AM – 12:00 PM to accept absentee ballots.  The Public Accuracy Test of electronic voting equipment to be used for the annual election will be held Saturday, March 11, at 9:00 AM in the Avon Township Hall.  The Avon Township Hall is handicap accessible.

Public Accuracy Testing, Annual Election, Annual Town Meeting

Notice to all qualified voters of Farming Township, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota that:

A Public Accuracy Test of the Automark Voting Machine that will be used in the Farming Township Board Election will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Township Board Room of the Farming Community Center.

The Annual Election of Town Officers will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in the Farming Community Center Board Room in the Town of Farming to elect one Supervisor for a term of 3 years and one Treasurer for a term of 2 years. Polls will be open from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

7.3 Purple Pride 

-Jane Kalthoff is a team player, we appreciate that she looks for the positive.

-Lori Arceneau is a great help monitoring students and assisting them with reading and writing.  She has played an important role with the after school program. 

-Vanessa Solarz is dedicated to her work as a Reading Corps Tutor and was a great help in the absence of staff members. 

-Catherine Lucken did a fantastic job with the One Act Play.  The community outreach is appreciated. 

-Pam Fischer has the appreciation of the recess staff for an innovative creation of a safety cone cart.  Thank you!!

-Liz Berckes gives so selflessly and is such a generous person.  She fills so many roles as a substitute in the district. 

-Jen Hiltner strives to add new and effective ways to engage her students. In a recent activity students had to think critically and collaborate for the entire block.  

-Kelly Orbeck in her significant role at Avon Elementary she demonstrates such a compassionate spirit. She inspires other by her patience and compassion. 

7.4 Secondary School Lunch

Tim Wege and Paul Conrad presented a proposal for a new lunch schedule. Currently have half hour lunch and fifteen minute homeroom. The new idea would be to take those two blocks of time and add a bit more for a total of 56 minutes for a “lunch power hour”. Students would eat lunch sometime during that time frame, but they could also meet with teachers, make up tests, have activity meetings, etc. Lunch could be eaten in various places in the building, not just the commons. Instructional time would not change.

8.3 Safe Routes to School 

Working with the City of Albany to create sidewalks and trails for Safe Routes to School. Have a planning grant for $10,000. The remaining $5,500 would be split between the City and the School.

Motion was made by Paulsen and seconded by Hansen to give the money to support Safe Routes. Carried Unanimoulsy
